1. His Asking Price Is Extremely Affordable For The 76ers
Derrick Rose is owed $7.68 million this upcoming season and with the Pistons drafting Killian Hayes to be their point guard of the future, the 76ers would not have to offer up even close to what they would have to offer up for a player like James Harden. Not only would Rose fit in better with the 76ers than Harden, but he makes everyone else around him better and is not a selfish player.
One of the 76ers’ biggest problems last year was that they relied too heavily on Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid to make a play and score. After going out and getting an assortment of offensive-minded players this offseason, adding Rose to be one of the main facilitators for the team would be the icing on the cake.
With Rose on an expiring contract this season, the Sixers would have to give up either Terrance Ferguson, Vincent Poirier, or Tony Bradley and possibly one to two second-round picks to land Rose. For a former league MVP, this would be an absolute steal and while the Pistons may want a first-round pick in exchange for Rose, the 76ers could still make it work.
With his asking price being very affordable compared to Harden and having the ability to add a former league MVP without giving up any core players, the trade would be exactly what the 76ers need to be a true championship contender this season.
This is why the 76ers need to still pursue a trade for Derrick Rose, regardless of what is going on with the James Harden saga in Houston. Rose is available and Philly will be kicking themselves down the road if Rose is traded elsewhere and helps that team win a championship.
