3. The 76ers Need Point Guard Depth
Ben Simmons is listed as the 76ers’ point guard and while he has tremendous handles for a big guard and has fantastic passing abilities, this team overall would be much better with the ability to bring in a reliable point guard and move Simmons around to other positions.
Not to mention, Shake Milton is listed as the backup point guard for the 76ers, but is a much better player on the wing and at shooting guard rather than being the primary ball-handler. Derrick Rose has been great over the last two seasons with the Timberwolves and Pistons and could come in and solidify the 76ers as a championship contender.
Last season with the Pistons, Rose played in 50 games, coming off the bench in 35 of those games and averaging 18.1 points and 5.6 assists, while shooting 49% from the floor over the course of the season. With the addition of Rose, they not only get another scoring threat who is often under-played by opponents, but someone who would not have to have a lot of pressure put on them to produce.
Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons, and Tobias Harris are the top three scoring options for the Sixers, which would allow Rose to do what he does best as a facilitator and true floor general for Philly.
While he is not the player he once was, Rose can still contribute at a high level and could make a difference for the 76ers. Guard depth is something the Sixers have not had over the years and bringing in a proven, winning point guard like Rose would do wonders for both the first and second units.
