Why the Trade Works for the Houston Rockets
After James Harden’s camp leaked to the media about his desire to play elsewhere, the Houston Rockets now need to shift course to pulling off a rebuild. That starts with trading Russell Westbrook above all else.
Trading away Westbrook in exchange for Wall isn’t an all that favorable move on the surface. However, with Westbrook having minimal trade value, it may be one of the only options to move on from the disgruntled star.
Being able to add a stretch-big like Moritz Wagner would be a helpful addition alongside the recently signed Christian Wood. Being compensated with a future first round pick certainly helps, too.
There is a chance that Wall could return to game action and play at a high-level— improving his trade value from rock-bottom. The Rockets could later trade him after that occurs—much like the Oklahoma City Thunder achieved with Chris Paul.
