If Obi Toppin is available at No. 5 in the NBA Draft, he should be Cleveland’s pick.
As with Avdija, it’s not a guarantee that Toppin is available at No. 5. That being said, if Toppin and Avdija were to go in the top 4, that would mean others would fall.
Toppin would fill a need for the Cavaliers, who frankly need to address their front court. There are a number of intriguing guards available, but if possible Cleveland should resist the backcourt urge, and address their front court.
Toppin is 22, so he’ll enter the NBA as an older prospect than some of his fellow 2020 draftees, but that added experience could mean the Cavs are getting a more developed player on day one.
