5 trades the Los Angeles Clippers should look to make this offseason

Acquire Mike Conley

There may be a hint of desperation behind this move. Mike Conley’s stock is low in Utah, and he just turned 33 this month.

But put yourself in the shoes of the Clippers for a moment. Los Angeles has two major assets: Leonard and George. Leonard is off-limits in a trade, and George would be difficult to trade.

And yet, if both depart in 2021 free agency, what are the Clippers left with? No stars, and no discernible path toward rebuilding, thanks to all the picks they surrendered for George (and Leonard, by extension).

If the Clippers feel that Conley may serve as a bounce-back candidate next season surrounded by Leonard and George, it may be worth a shot. Conley was once highly regarded in Memphis, and for good reason.

The Clippers wouldn’t need him to carry the load offensively, and the Jazz could get a few pieces in return for Conley.
