3. The Warriors upset the Dallas Mavericks in Game 6 at Oracle Arena
In 2007, the Golden State Warriors snuck into the playoffs by winning 16 of their last 21 games to finish with a 42-40 record and the eighth and final playoff spot. They had to play the Dallas Mavericks, who led the league with 67 wins and had the number one seed in the Western Conference.
The Warriors had a 3-1 series lead, but lost game 5 in Dallas. Behind a raucous Oracle Arena crowd, the Warriors were ready in game 6, passing the ball around and getting hot. Stephen Jackson was on fire for the Warriors, raining down shots at a high clip. He finished with 33 points on 10-of-19 shooting, including 7-of-8 from beyond the arc. Jackson was the main catalyst for the Warriors, but they got contributions from Davis, Jason Richardson and Mickael Pietrus.
The Warriors would go on to blow out the Mavericks and become only the third number eight seed to upset a number one seed in NBA history, winning the series four games to two. That was a massive upset that few had to see coming. Did the Warriors themselves even?
Here are the highlights of the Warriors’ magical game 6 against the Mavericks in 2007.
