4. The Warriors beat the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 7 of the 2016 WCF

The Warriors were gut-punched in games 3 and 4, falling behind three games to one, with their historic season on the line. Led by unanimous league MVP, Stephen Curry, the Warriors rallied for a huge game 5 victory to extend the series back to Oklahoma City.

Then in game 6, the Thunder got off to a fast start, playing with more urgency and energy than the defending champions. It seemed like the Warriors were on the ropes getting ready to get knocked out, but there was a player who refused to let them lose.

His name was Klay Thompson, who scored a playoff career-high 41 points with a record-breaking 11 triples. Every time the Thunder made a run, Thompson would hit a few shots to keep the Warriors within striking distance. It was not until the Warriors took the lead on Thompson’s 11th three of the night off the pass from Andre Iguodala.

In game 7 at Oracle, the Warriors did not play well in the first half, getting down by 13 points and Durant getting into a rhythm with Westbrook facilitating for his teammates. Thompson hit a couple of threes to get his team going and the Warriors only trailed by six at the half.

Then in the third quarter, Curry had a patented quarter, hitting back-to-back triples to tie and give the Warriors the lead. He had rediscovered his MVP form and his team needed all of it in order to advance to the NBA Finals for a second straight time.

Curry hit the dagger shot, a three-pointer from the right wing, after evading Andre Roberson with a behind-the-back dribble. After the buzzer sounded, Curry and Durant embraced in a hug as good sportsmanship and, well, the rest is history.
