1. The Warriors captured the 2017 NBA championship at Oracle Arena

The Golden State Warriors had an opportunity to vanquish the “3-1” demons with a victory in Game 5 against the same Cleveland Cavaliers team that mounted a historic comeback a year earlier. Warriors stars, Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant made sure those 3-1 memes would be put to rest.

Curry scored 34 points with 10 assists on 10-of-20 shooting to manage the game and right the ship to quell any Cleveland runs. His playmaking and scoring was on full displayed as he wiggled out of double teams to find open teammates.

Durant did the same. He scored 39 points with six rebounds and five assists on 14-of-20 shooting. He hit big shot after big shot to shred any hope the Cavaliers had in coming back in the game.

With the game clock winding down to triple zeros, Durant bounced the ball and met LeBron James with a handshake after a hard fought series. The one man standing in Durant’s way for a championship had fallen.

The best part about the title-clinching game for the Warriors was that it was at Oracle, a championship at home, the first in the Bay Area in 43 years since the Reggie Jackson-led Oakland A’s won their World Series title at home in 1974.

It was truly a cherishing moment for the Warriors and their fans to win at home.
