Warriors, Suns Among Possible Blake Griffin Suitors

Blake Griffin, Golden State Warriors, Phoenix Suns, NBA Rumors

At this point in his NBA career, Blake Griffin isn’t much more than a break in case of an emergency player at the end of the bench. Gone are the days of him as a highflier playing above the rim with thunderous dunks or carrying a team to victories.

Instead, he is someone that you can call on for spot minutes throughout the marathon regular season. Once his athleticism began to slip, he started adjusting his game accordingly. He provides some value to teams as a big that can stretch the floor and knock down jump shots, something his game was severely lacking earlier in his career.

If you are relying on him to play a regular role in your rotation, that is probably going to stretch him too thin. But, how the Celtics deployed him last season is the perfect blueprint for how teams should use him going forward.

The question is, which teams are going to show interest in him? Given where he is in his career, winning a championship ring is likely priority No. 1. That narrows down his list considerably, but there are a number of teams around the league he could be a fit for.

NBA NEWS & RUMORS: Blake Griffin, Golden State Warriors & Phoenix Suns Updates

One team to keep an eye on is the Phoenix Suns. They have revamped their entire roster and are looking for capable bodies to round things out. Griffin is someone that could provide them with spot minutes in the frontcourt and he has experience playing alongside Kevin Durant from their time together on the Brooklyn Nets.

With their star trio of Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal, the Suns have no wiggle room to add talent to the roster. Veteran’s minimum deals are all they have and Griffin would assuredly take one to join their team.

NBA NEWS & RUMORS: Blake Griffin, Golden State Warriors & Phoenix Suns Updates

Another contender that could use some depth in the frontcourt is the Golden State Warriors. They are lacking size on their roster currently and Griffin could provide some as someone capable of playing power forward and center.

His skill set would bring something different to the table for the Warriors as their big men last season didn’t bring much offensively, especially in the way of floor spacing. Griffin has at least shown the ability to knock down 3-pointers and could play a niche role for a Golden State team that seems to always get the most out of veterans they bring on.
