The Oklahoma City Thunder have signed head coach Mark Daigneault to a multi-year contract extension, according to NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Daigneault has gone 86-150 in three seasons with the Thunder. He finished second in Coach of the Year Voting last season. Sacramento Kings coach Mike Brown won the 2022-23 Coach of the Year Award.
Daigneault was named the fourth head coach in Thunder history on November 11, 2020, after originally joining the organization in 2014, serving as head coach of the Oklahoma City Blue for five seasons. With the Blue, Daigneault led the team to three straight division titles and four playoff appearances before joining the Thunder bench as an assistant coach in 2019.
OKC went 40-42 last season and defeated the New Orleans Pelicans in the 9-10 play-in game on the road. The Thunder, though, didn’t qualify for the 2023 playoffs since they lost the 8-9 play-in game to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

With Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Luguentz Dort, Josh Giddey, Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren leading the way, the Thunder have an incredibly bright future. Holmgren missed the entire 2022-23 season after suffering a Lisfranc injury last summer while playing in a pro-am game. He was the second overall pick in the 2022 draft out of Gonzaga.
OKC is excited to see Holmgren and Gilgeous-Alexander on the floor together. The two youngsters figure to be deadly in the pick-and-roll/pop game.
