The Dallas Mavericks have an eventful NBA offseason ahead of them. Kyrie Irving is due to hit free agency. Dallas needs to keep him.

If they can’t, they may have some serious problems. Could Luka Doncic request a trade? Perhaps not this summer.

Still, it will be difficult for Dallas to improve next year without Irving. If they stagnate or regress, they could lose Doncic next summer. 

On the other hand, suppose they keep Irving. The Mavericks’ work is not finished.

The next logical step for this organization would likely be to acquire a starting caliber big man. 

How about Isaiah Hartenstein of the New York Knicks?
