With that said, the summer can only be so eventful. The Mavericks don’t have the resources to really make the NBA explode. 

They’ve spent a lot of their assets already. In fact, the Mavericks spent some of their resources to acquire Irving. That’s why it’s so important that they keep him. 

Anything less would be a regression. Parting with resources for a half-season rental of Irving would be uninspiring. In all likelihood, Doncic would see it the same way. 

So, the Mavericks need to get creative. They need to go bargain hunting.

This organization needs to do whatever they can to put the best group possible around Doncic and Irving.
