Why The Los Angeles Clippers Do The Deal 

For the Clippers, this deal could work out in a number of ways. If Leonard can get healthy, it could even make them better. It’s got them improving their depth by acquiring two quality players at the price of one. 

Moreover, it’s got them acquiring one at a position of need. Unless you’re a serious Russell Westbrook believer, you’ll agree that the Clippers need a point guard moving forward.

Murray could be the answer. He’s a dynamic playmaker and one of the best point of attack defenders in the NBA. With that in mind, this deal could be about the future for the Clippers.

Even if Leonard’s career is in jeopardy, it’s got them acquiring two players who are significantly younger than George. It would at least better insulate their franchise from having two injury prone, aging wings by making a change.

Another option the Clippers have is to trade Leonard in a different trade simply and to re-tool the roster around young options like Murray. Being in Los Angeles, it wouldn’t be a bad bet to assume the front office could sign more talent.
