Why The Dallas Mavericks Do The Deal 

The Mavericks absolutely shouldn’t be in a rush to trade Doncic. With that said, if he demands a trade, the calculus changes. 

Of course, they still won’t be in a rush. This is Luka Doncic. His trade value will be astronomical. The Mavericks would need to get fair compensation. 

This deal offers it to them if Doncic wants to leave. The main draw here is the draft capital. The Mavericks would be receiving a total of six unprotected first-round picks.

At the same time, Dort and Giddy are solid young players in their own right. Even Pokusevski has potential.
