Sometimes, all you can do is start over. You may have traveled far down a path. Sometimes, an NBA team needs a new beginning.

That doesn’t mean it was the right one. At that point, all you can do is search for a new beginning. 

If they’ve been contending for a while, and they don’t appear likely to win, they may start rebuilding.

In fact, some call this the “rebuilding cycle.” 

The Oklahoma City Thunder appear to be on the rise in that cycle.

On the other hand, it’s possible that the Dallas Mavericks could be starting over soon. 

Could they do so by sending Luka Doncic to the Thunder?
