In terms of the future, they’re avoiding Green’s next contract. Granted, they’re doing so by acquiring an expensive player in Turner. That’s fine.

As the much younger player, Turner will be significantly easier to trade if need be. 

In the present, he ought to make this team better. Sure, parting with a long-term core player like Green will sting. At this point in his career, Turner is more impactful.
