Why The Toronto Raptors Do The Deal 

Not directly, no. This deal has the Raptors looking to the future. 

That decision won’t sit well with everyone. The Raptors have a lot of talent. Some of their fans would probably prefer to see them make a win-now adjustment and try again next season. 

They could do that. On the other hand, a duo of Scottie Barnes and Sharpe gives them two extremely young players with superstar potential. With some additional moves, this could give the Raptors one of the brightest futures in the NBA. 

One more note: Sharpe is Canadian. That counts for the Raptors. Plenty of American players have had reservations about crossing the border before.

It’s entirely likely that Sharpe, a Toronto area native, spent his childhood dreaming of suiting up for the Raptors.
