The Blazers do this deal to acquire a superstar player. In some ways, that justifies itself. 

Granted, Towns is an imperfect fit. This is one of the best offensive big men in the NBA – and one of the worst defenders at his position. Given that Lillard also struggles on that end, some will question the wisdom of this deal. 

Fair. On the other hand, how do you guard a Towns/Lillard duo? It feels like an impossible task. The combined offensive abilities between the two, coupled with Anfernee Simons as a third option, feel worth the cost of defensive ability. 

The Blazers may make some additional moves here. If they can afford to, they should retain Jerami Grant – he’s a plus defender.
