As a general rule, two-way teams win NBA championships.
After all, both sides of the ball count. The team that wins it all is usually top-10 in both offense and defense, and top-5 in one. That is normally the winning formula.
With that said, it’s one that’s easier said than done. There are only so many two-way players in the league. If you’re going to lean in one direction, you might want to lean toward offense.
After all, the league is more offensively talented than it’s ever been. You’re not going to win very many games by trying to focus solely on stopping teams from scoring.
On the other hand, with an offensive superstar like Damian Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers or Karl-Anthony Towns of the Minnesota Timberwolves, you’ve got a chance to outscore your opponent.
Imagine if they were on the same team.
