Why The Chicago Bulls Do The Deal
One thing is certain. If player empowerment is a general concern for the league, it shouldn’t be one for the Bulls here.
After all, Davis’ interest in playing for his hometown team has long been speculated about. He seemed interested in joining them when he demanded a trade from the Pelicans. This deal finally has him doing so.
The Bulls could also use a player like Davis. This team has been lacking rim protection. If they’re acquiring Davis, they could run him alongside Nikola Vucevic as a weak side shot blocker, or trade Vooch for a better fit.
Many fans would have the Bulls triggering a rebuild this summer. Sure, they could do that.

On the other hand, they could opt to stay relevant by acquiring a dominant two-way big. Given Davis’ ties to the area, he may actually settle down there, too.
