Why The Los Angeles Lakers Do The Deal 

The Lakers could be interested in this move for a handful of reasons. 

Firstly, it’s been speculated that the relationship between James and Anthony Davis is growing sour. If that is true, a fresh start could be warranted. 

This would be quite a fresh start. Harden and James would make for an intriguing pair. In all likelihood, they’d be very difficult to contain. 

Conceptually, this is similar to the logic behind pairing James with Russell Westbrook. It gives him another elite playmaker to ease his burden.

The only difference is that Harden can actually space the floor. As long the Lakers could find a veteran to make up some of Davis’ interior defense, this could make them a better team in 2023-24.
