Astute, yes. Not astute enough. This is the National Basketball Association – anything is possible. 

All Harden would have to do is tell the Sixers that he wants to play with LeBron James in LA. If they refuse to play ball, the Lakers will let D’Angelo Russell walk, trade whoever is necessary to dump salary, and sign Harden outright.

The Sixers would walk away with nothing. This is the modern NBA. Where there’s a will, there is always the way.
