Why The Philadelphia 76ers Do The Deal
We cannot. Zach LaVine is remarkably talented. He’s just not as good as James Harden.
He may be a marginally better scorer at this stage in their careers, but he’s not nearly as proficient a playmaker.
That’s not the point. Harden has a player option this summer, and he’s liable to walk. By contrast, LaVine is locked up long-term. This deal gives the Sixers some stability.
It still leaves them with an impressive core, too. LaVine, Tyrese Maxey, Tobias Harris, and Joel Embiid ought to be a contending core.
