The 2023-24 NBA season has been a bit of a roller coaster ride for the Golden State Warriors at times. But, they are ascending toward a peak at just the right time, as they are finding their stride with the regular season coming to a close and the NBA Play-In Tournament drawing near.

On Tuesday night, they moved one step closer to securing homecourt for their first Play-In Game, which will likely be against the Los Angeles Lakers. It was the Lakers whom the Warriors defeated on Tuesday, 134-120.

Los Angeles was without Anthony Davis in the game, who was battling the flu and could not play. The Lakers could have certainly used his defensive prowess, as they had no answers for a red-hot Warriors offense.

In fact, it was a record-setting performance by Golden State that helped them get the win. The Warriors shot 26-of-41 from 3-point range, which comes out to 63.4 percent. According to Kendra Andrews of ESPN, that is the best 3-point shooting percentage in a game in NBA history.

NBA NEWS & SCORES: Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, Golden State Warriors Updates

Chris Paul and Jonathan Kuminga were the only Warriors players who didn’t shoot at least 50 percent from 3-point range against the Lakers on Tuesday. Stephen Curry went 6-for-6, while Brandin Podziemski was 3-for-3 off the bench.

In a shocking turn of events, even Draymond Green got in on the act. He made his first five 3-point attempts of the game, finishing the game 5-of-7. Klay Thompson was also on fire, knocking down 5-of-10 attempts in the victory.

The Lakers were unable to keep up with that shooting display, as they went 12-of-35 from long range. Austin Reaves, who went 5-of-7, and Spencer Dinwiddie, who was 3-of-5, did their best to keep pace but it wasn’t enough.

Shooting 63.4 percent from 3-point range isn’t going to happen every night. But when the Warriors are clicking like that on offense, they are a very tough team to beat. Teams atop the Western Conference certainly aren’t going to be excited about potentially matching up with Golden State in the first round of the NBA Playoffs.
