Sure, veterans are more likely to serve a contending team well. At the same time, a young player with a particular skill set could benefit a contender just as much.
The Los Angeles Lakers seemed to be aware of that fact at this year’s trade deadline. Mo Bamba and Rui Hachimura were both surprising acquisitions for this club.
So far, they’ve both proven to be solid ones. Meanwhile, the Dallas Mavericks don’t strictly rely on veterans either.
Players like Josh Green and Jaden Hardy are meaningful pieces in this team’s rotation.
