Chemistry counts too. We’re talking about chemistry on and off the basketball floor. At the same time, those two factors have a lot of crossovers. 

Just ask Rudy Gobert. On paper, he should have been a clean fit with Donovan Mitchell when the two were on the Utah Jazz. Instead, Mitchell seldom passed to him in pick-and-roll sets. 

We weren’t in those Jazz locker rooms. However, it certainly seems like off-court conflict tanked their on-court chemistry.

In short, to build a contender, you need a talented group of guys that complement each other to develop chemistry.
