For what it’s worth, it does feel like Minnesota’s twin-tower model is failing.
Some predicted it would. Towns may be a weak interior defender, but he struggles even more on the perimeter. His inability to contain wings puts undue pressure on Gobert as a rim protector.
Moreover, their jumbo pairing forces the Wolves to play slow. That’s not ideal for Anthony Edwards. On the other hand, he and Ingram could play an exciting brand of run-and-gun basketball together.
That’s the idea here. The Wolves fix their fit issues by flipping Towns for Ingram. They also get a little draft capital for giving up the best player in the deal.
