With that said, one could argue that neither of these players has lived up to expectations. That’s a bold claim in light of how well each has performed in the NBA. 

The bar is simply that high. Meanwhile, each has different reasons why they’ve (arguably) fallen short, too. 

For Williamson, health has been the culprit. Perhaps that’s due to his unique frame and play style.

In any event, he’s struggled to stay on the floor throughout his NBA career so far.

Towns has enjoyed relative health. With that said, he hasn’t had tremendous team success. Some would suggest that his shortcomings as a defensive player are partly to blame there.
