Why The New Orleans Pelicans Do The Deal 

It may be unfair to say Towns and Williamson have fallen short of expectations. For what it’s worth, they’re both offensive superstars when they’re healthy. 

Of course, that’s why the Pelicans would want to combine them. The dynamic between Towns’ elite shooting and Williamson’s interior scoring could make them unstoppable. 

Sure, the defense will suffer. Doesn’t it already in New Orleans? This team has been leaning into an offense-first identity. This deal only continues that trend. 

In all likelihood, this trade would have them trading Jonas Valaciunas to a team in need of a big man.

It feels doubtful that he and Towns could co-exist: after all, Towns has struggled to co-exist with Rudy Gobert in Minnesota.
