Brooklyn Nets Land John Collins

Atlanta Hawks Receive: G/F Joe Harris, F Royce O’Neale, 2028 First-Round Pick (Swap – BKN) 

Brooklyn Nets Receive: F/C John Collins 

The last deal had the Hawks making a clear upgrade. Kuzma has been much better than Collins this season. 

This deal is a little more complicated. All told, Collins is probably a more impactful player than either Harris or O’Neale. That doesn’t mean he’s a better fit for the Hawks. 

In particular, this deal improves the Hawks’ spacing. Given their ball-dominant backcourt pairing, that’s integral. Moreover, O’Neale’s low usage 3-and-D skillset may suit the Hawks better. 

Similarly, Collins should fit right in on the Brooklyn Nets. He’d have particular value to them as a small-ball 5 in lineups where Ben Simmons was running point.
