That may be a sensible move. After all, the Hawks parted with significant draft capital in order to land Murray. Recouping some of it could improve their trade flexibility moving forward. 

The pick they’re landing here happens to be especially valuable. Teams around the league will covet a distant first from an aging, declining Los Angeles Lakers squad. 

Of course, the Lakers are trying to stave off decline with this deal. As in Brooklyn, Collins could man the 5 in small-ball lineups designed to offset Russell Westbrook’s shooting woes.
