For the most part, shot creators are stars, and floor spacers are role players. Of course, that isn’t a strict dichotomy, either.
Some players can create their own shot, but they simply don’t do it consistently enough to star in the NBA.
That’s not a criticism – if you can create your own shot in the NBA, you are an insanely good basketball player.
You just may not be good enough to build an NBA offense around. In that event, teams will still find a place for you – simply put, you’ve got too much talent not to make it in the league.
