Why The Los Angeles Lakers Do The Deal 

This isn’t the deal some Lakers fans would have the team make. They’d prefer to trade Westbrook, along with draft capital, for a bigger return. 

Fair. At the same time, the Lakers may be apprehensive about mortgaging too much of their future to bolster this core. That’s also fair. This deal is an effort to split the difference. 

It’s worth noting that Sexton once averaged 24.3 points per game. This is a hyper-talented scorer. The Jazz have simply been easing him back into the NBA coming off of a major injury. 

In that time, he has absolutely flashed the potential that he used to. The Lakers would be adding a dynamic ball-handler and scorer who spaces the floor.
