Why The Chicago Bulls Do The Deal
There’s a lot to unpack here. Let’s go ahead and get started.
The Bulls would receive a grand total of eight players and three first-round picks here. That’s an incredible haul. At the same time, they won’t be interested in every player they’re landing here – some will be cut.
Essentially, they’re flipping LaVine and Vucevic for Giddey, Dort, and draft capital.
That’s good value. At 11-15, the Bulls have not impressed in 2022-23. It feels apparent that this flawed roster is not working. Realistically, it’s time to move on.

The Bulls do run the risk of sending the Magic a premium pick here. In the grand scheme, that’s not such a big deal. If they bottom out hard ahead of 2023-24, they’ll have their own premium pick to a young core that’s now added Giddey to Patrick Williams, Lonzo Ball, and Ayo Dosunmu.
That sounds like a good start to a rebuild. Should the Thunder end theirs for Embiid?
