Why The Philadelphia 76ers Do The Deal
Any roster decision the Sixers have made recently has been dictated by one philosophy: talent beats all.
One wonders if that’s true. Talent may be the most important factor for an NBA team, but fit counts as well. Meanwhile, the 15-12 Sixers may not fit together well enough to play for the championship.
After all, Embiid and James Harden are both effective isolation scorers. Neither does much to complement the other when they have the ball. The Sixers’ brand of your-turn, my-turn offense appears limited.
This deal should alleviate those problems. It gives Harden a floor-spacing big man to work with in Vucevic. More importantly, LaVine is the type of on-ball, off-ball hybrid that should complement the heliocentric star.
