Why The Orlando Magic Do The Deal
The Magic’s frontcourt is getting crowded.
Paolo Banchero is defying even the most optimistic projections. He looks well on his way to superstardom. Meanwhile, Carter Jr. remains solid, and even Bol Bol is emerging as a better option than Bamba.
By contrast, the guard rotation is thin. Granted, they’ve dealt with injuries. Still, between Markelle Fultz, Cole Anthony, and Jalen Suggs, the Magic have a lot of ball handling and very little shooting.
That’s where Lonnie Walker IV comes in. He’s a strong off-ball player. The Magic could badly use a player like him. In essence, that’s who they’re trading for: Nunn is a throw-in.

Still, the Magic could give him some run, and potentially move him to a team in need of a point guard.
Either way, this deal is easy to explain from Orlando’s perspective.
