Perhaps positions are now determined by defensive assignments. Jokic has developed into an adequate rim protector, but the Nuggets can’t have him chasing guards around the perimeter.
It may be that positions are still relevant, and it’s actually rigid positional responsibilities that the league has moved on from.

After all, Jokic is effectively Denver’s point guard. He’s the guy they want with the ball in his hands, making decisions and running this offense. Call him whatever you want to call him, but just don’t call him untalented.
With the right pieces around him, Jokic is unstoppable. Could LeVert be one of those pieces?
