Jokic, for a long time, was seen as a significant defensive liability. By now, he’s competent on that end of the floor, but he’s still not exactly useful. Meanwhile, Simmons is one of the best defensive players in the NBA.
Of course, we also already discussed Simmons’ inability to shoot. Jokic is one of the best three-point shooting bigs in the NBA. Do you see where this is going?
The two would make for a very interesting pair. Jokic has the shooting skills needed to compliment Simmons when he has the ball, and it’s not difficult to picture Simmons as a pick-and-roll finisher when Jokic has the rock either.

Nor, for that matter, when Jamal Murray does. Some may argue that Simmons would negate him, but we’d counter that as a pure scorer, Murray will thrive alongside two of the best floor generals in the NBA.
Following this deal, the Nuggets would be serious championship contenders – not to mention the best passing team in the NBA.
