How This Trade Impacts Sacramento Kings
The Sacramento Kings have done some significant work reshaping their roster over the last few months. They acquired Domantas Sabonis from the Indiana Pacers ahead of the trade deadline and Kevin Huerter from the Atlanta Hawks this offseason.
Malik Monk was signed in free agency and the No. 4 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft was used on Keegan Murray. Improving on the wing was their goal and they accomplished it. They can add even more upside there with this trade.
Harrison Barnes has been a consistent performer for the Kings since he joined the team in 2019 in a trade from the Dallas Mavericks. But, their long-term outlook could improve a lot with the addition of Deni Avdjia.
Avdija provides the team with some much-needed youth and can play multiple positions on the court. Already an excellent defender, if his offense ever comes around, he will be a long-term starter.

He will be afforded the chance to develop his offensive repertoire as the Kings will rely on De’Aaron Fox and Sabonis to carry the load offensively.
Will Barton provides the team with some secondary playmaking and scoring, further upgrading the team at the shooting guard and small forward positions. He can be a valuable player for Mike Brown filling different roles depending on the lineup around him.

While the Kings could try and snag a first-round pick for Barnes if they shopped him around, landing a player with the upside of Avdija and established performance of Barton is more worthwhile for a franchise looking to snap a 16-year playoff drought.
