How This Trade Impacts Washington Wizards
The Washington Wizards are locked into the duo of Bradley Beal and Kristaps Porzingis for the next few seasons. When healthy, that is certainly an intriguing pairing to build a roster up around as they have reached All-Star level of production in their careers.
While their health is a risk, the Wizards have to do everything they can to upgrade the roster around them. Harrison Barnes, while not a superstar, is the kind of veteran that would fit in perfectly with a team looking to improve their immediate outlook.
Barnes has experience playing off of All-Star level players from his time with the Golden State Warriors. He can fit seamlessly into any scheme given his versatility and skill set. Without assets to be legitimate suitors for someone such as Donovan Mitchell, making incremental improvements is at least a step in the right direction.
Flipping Barton, who has not yet played for the franchise, wouldn’t be too big of a loss given the depth on the team on the wing. However, including Deni Avdjia could be something that the Wizards hesitate on.

Avdija has already shown that he can be an excellent defensive piece, something you always need around All-Star players. While his offensive game has not yet come along, he is already a rotation player based on his defense alone.
But, the consistency that Barnes brings to the table and the ability to be that steady third performer may be enough for the Wizards to part with one of their better young assets.
