Why This Trade Makes Sense For The Boston Celtics
Jaylen Brown has been a big piece to the Celtics’ championship contention puzzle, but he certainly should not be viewed as untouchable. The only untouchable player on the current roster is Jayson Tatum.
There is no question at all that Kevin Durant is the better player right now. If Brad Stevens is all about winning another title, this trade is a no-brainer. Durant would be a piece that takes them to another level on the contention scale.
Add in the fact that the Celtics would add a piece like Seth Curry and this deal is even more obvious.
Curry is a lethal three-point threat, which every contender needs to have around their stars. He has become a highly coveted piece around the NBA and would be a huge addition in this deal.
Neither Williams or White is the kind of piece that should stop a Durant trade from going down. They are both quality role players, but the Celtics could replace them easily.

Two first-round picks mean absolutely nothing for a team that is going all-out to win an NBA championship.
Should the Celtics decide to go all-out for a Durant trade, this is one framework that makes tons of sense. Would it be enough to get the deal done in real life? Maybe not, but it certainly would be hard for the Nets to pass on.
