Utah Jazz Receive: F Tobias Harris, 2029 First-Round Pick (Top 5 Protected – PHI)
Philadelphia 76ers Receive: F Bojan Bogdanovic, G Jordan Clarkson
With all that being said, sometimes, you can assemble top-end talent alongside strong supporting players, and still fall short.
Just ask the Utah Jazz. Over the last several years, they’ve been built around a dynamic duo of Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert. The former is one of the best scoring guards in the NBA, while the latter is one of the best defensive big men in history.
They’ve still fallen short of contention. Different people will offer different explanations. Some will posit that Rudy Gobert’s inability to guard the perimeter has gotten him schemed out of the playoffs. Others will say that the Jazz faltered by failing to put quality perimeter defenders around him.
In any event, they haven’t sniffed the NBA finals during the Mitchell/Gobert era. Now, Gobert is a Minnesota Timberwolf, and many have Mitchell pegged for a departure as well.
