Why The Utah Jazz Do The Deal
If the Jazz do move their veterans, they’ll likely be seeking draft compensation above all else. After all, they established that precedent by moving Rudy Gobert for, among other things, four unprotected first-round picks.
By that logic, some may suggest that they’re actually not getting enough back here. On the other hand, deeper reflection on Bogdanovic and Clarkson suggests otherwise.
Firstly, it’s worth noting that Bogdanovic is on an expiring deal. That negatively impacts his value to a contending team. Forking out an unprotected first-round pick for a one-year rental will look awful in hindsight if the Sixers don’t get a championship.
Furthermore, Clarkson had a pretty rough season in 2021-22. He’s still a valuable sixth man who can carry a second unit, but his inefficient shooting made him a poor fit alongside the Jazz’s starters. He’s not likely to fetch a first-round pick on his own.

With those caveats in mind, a distant, protected first-round pick feels like fair value for the Jazz’s pair of veterans here. Should the Sixers part with it to land them?
