Why The Chicago Bulls Do The Deal
In all likelihood, you see this as a Ball-for-Kuzma swap. Fair enough. The former Laker teammates do headline the trade.
With that said, this trade is about Daniel Gafford as much as anything else for the Chicago Bulls. To explain that, let’s talk about the evolution of the NBA game one more time.
As we mentioned, it’s impacted big men as much as anything else. Gafford, in stark contrast to current starting Bulls center Nikola Vucevic, is a bit of a throwback. That may be exactly what the Bulls need.
After all, Gafford doesn’t space the floor like Vooch, but he’s a substantially better rim protector. Meanwhile, with Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan on this roster, Vucevic’s offensive abilities are somewhat minimized anyway. Gafford would be a better fit.

Factor in that the Chicago Bulls are also receiving Kuzma, and this one would be a no-brainer on their end.
