Dallas Mavericks Receive: G Collin Sexton (sign-and-trade)
Cleveland Cavaliers Receive: F Reggie Bullock, C/F Maxi Kleber, Future First-Round Pick
This hypothetical deal could be one that both the Dallas Mavericks and Cleveland Cavaliers benefit from. They are both shoring up areas of need by dealing from areas of strength.
The Mavericks have been reported as a potential landing spot for Collin Sexton, the No. 8 overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, but the Cavaliers reportedly haven’t liked any of the offers the packages discussed. What those packages have been is anyone’s guess, but this is something that could work.
The Mavericks don’t have the cap space to sign Sexton outright, so a sign-and-trade deal will have to be consummated. $20 million annually is something that has been thrown out for Sexton, so that is the base number used in this scenario.
To match that number, the Mavericks are parting ways with Reggie Bullock and Maxi Kleber. Dwight Powell could be swapped out for either player should the Cavaliers decide they would prefer that.

A future first-round pick is also included in the deal heading to Cleveland. The earliest the Mavericks can trade a first-round pick is 2025, as their 2023 deal is already heading to the New York Knicks from the Kristaps Porzingis deal.
How does this deal impact each team? Let’s take a look at it from both of their perspectives, starting with the Mavericks.
