Houston Rockets
One of these things is not like the other…
The Dallas Mavericks were bonafide title contenders in 2021-22. The Toronto Raptors couldn’t make the same claim, but they did make the playoffs. They could be a piece away from being able to say the same.
The Houston Rockets, by contrast, are many pieces away. They were the worst team in the NBA last season. They could trade for Ball this summer, and realistically, their chances of making the playoffs in 2022-23 would still be slim.
Nonetheless, Ball is a perfect fit for the players this team currently has. At 24, he’s not dreadfully far from their rebuilding timeline either. If Ball is interested in growing with an organization, the Rockets could offer him that opportunity.
