Memphis Grizzlies Receive: G Donovan Mitchell

The Memphis Grizzlies showed last season that they’re closer to true title contention that most fans and analysts expected. They did so by winning 56 games in the regular season and securing the second seed in the Western Conference, topping even the eventual champion Golden State Warriors in the standings.

They took care of business in the first-round of the playoffs, knocking off the Minnesota Timberwolves before ultimately falling to the Dubs in six games in the Conference Semifinals. Had it not been for an untimely injury to superstar point guard Ja Morant, the Grizzlies may have made to the Conference Finals or even farther.

This trade allows them to capitalize on their success from last season, avoid regression, and establish themselves as legitimate contenders. Ja Morant and Donovan Mitchell would give Memphis perhaps the most athletic and explosive backcourt in NBA history.

While backcourt defense will be lacking on the starting lineup, between Dillon Brooks, Desmond Bane, and Tyus Jones, the Memphis Grizzlies have plenty of perimeter defenders to cover for their new superstar tandem.
