How This Trade Impacts New York Knicks
The New York Knicks have to make at least one more move ahead of training camp and the regular season. They have 11 players that are worthy of rotation minutes and that doesn’t even include Jericho Sims and Deuce McBride, who have performed well when given the chance.
It is going to be difficult for Tom Thibodeau to divvy up the minutes and it will be impossible to appease 11 players. So, consolidating the roster should be an avenue they look down to. The package of Cam Reddish and Evan Fournier is reportedly one that New York has shopped this offseason and that is what is used to make this hypothetical deal.
Cam Reddish is the piece that a team such as the Indiana Pacers would be targeting. He fits their timeline and need, as they are lacking true wing options. This is the kind of opportunity he has been seeking but has not been provided yet in his NBA career.
The first-round pick via the Cleveland Cavaliers is to compensate for Reddish being included. Evan Fournier is used to match the salary of Buddy Hield, who can step right into his rotation spot, but because he is new to the team, it will be easier to have him come off the bench.

Trading Reddish and Fournier should ensure the starting shooting guard spot goes to Quentin Grimes, who provides a much-needed defensive presence. Hield can fill the 3-point shooting void left by Fournier while providing a little more production across the board.
Hield is an excellent, high-volume 3-point shooter. He should fit seamlessly into Fournier’s role, even if it is on the second unit alongside the fast-paced play of Immanuel Quickley, Derrick Rose, Obi Toppin and Isaiah Hartenstein.
