New York Knicks Receive: G/F Buddy Hield, 2023 First-Round Pick (via CLE)
Indiana Pacers Receive: F Cam Reddish, G Evan Fournier
The New York Knicks and Indiana Pacers are two teams in similar situations when it comes to the goals of the organization. They both have young cores that they want to become the foundation of the franchise. However, the Knicks are a little further along because they brought in some veterans after making a run to the No. 4 seed during the 2020-21 season.
This offseason, we saw Leon Rose and company hit the reset button on those deals they handed out last offseason and they continue doing so in this hypothetical deal with the Indiana Pacers.
Indiana is acquiring the two biggest acquisitions that New York made leading up to and during the 2021-22 season. Evan Fournier signed a deal as a free agent and Cam Reddish was acquired via trade from the Atlanta Hawks. That means the only player standing from the spending spree is Derrick Rose and Julius Randle, who also signed an extension.
Reddish fits their timeline as a 22-year-old wing oozing with potential. Fournier is used to help match salary, as the Knicks consolidate the roster and bring in Buddy Hield, who has a similar style of play to Fournier.
