The New York Knicks were very active this offseason, making moves so that they could address the biggest needs on their roster. They completed two trades during the 2022 NBA Draft, one of which included moving Kemba Walker to the Detroit Pistons, to start the process of clearing cap space.

Before free agency began, they swung a second trade with the Pistons, sending Nerlens Noel and Alec Burks to the Motor City. All in all, the Knicks traded away Walker, Noel and Burks, the No. 11 overall pick, six future second-round picks and $6 million.

In return, New York received three future first-round picks and had the cap space to sign Jalen Brunson away from the Dallas Mavericks. Brunson is a huge upgrade at the point guard position, filling a void they have had for years. They also signed Isaiah Hartenstein away from the LA Clippers to diversify their center group.

As things currently stand, New York has at least 11 players worthy of rotation minutes, so some tough decisions will have to be made by Tom Thibodeau with the rotation if the roster isn’t adjusted before then. More than likely, the Knicks will be on the lookout for a trade partner to consolidate the roster.
